Job Description:
We are looking for a talented, driven java developer to take a leadership role in the development of a next-generation, web-based, search-centric applications. We are interested in strong candidates who have gone through the rigors of software development and enjoy building great software and great products. A successful candidate must not only possess solid computer science knowledge and programming skills, but the ability to architect and create professional grade software. You should have a keen interest in programming and software in general and with open-source technology. You should also be the kind of person who can take input from disparate sources and combine them into specific action items that the company and its customers can take.
Primary Responsabilities:
- Implementation of the entire software lifecycle - analysis, design, implementation, quality assurance, deployment, and maintenance
- Coordinate and supervise a small team of engineers to implement the entire life cycle
- Time estimates, time tracking, task completion
- Communication with internal or external customers/clients
Required Skills:
- Very strong communication skills
- Ability to gather requirements, esp. from customers for whom English is not the primary language
- Ability to maintain, update and communicate project status pro-actively
- Ability to monitor and guide progress of developers towards specific, deadline-driven goals
- Track record of taking responsibility for customer satisfaction in project
- Strong experience in software engineering, architecture, design and development
- Java, knowledge of JDK 1.5 a plus
- Experience with web-based applications (e.g., Tomcat, Apache)
- Strong experience writing high-quality, professional code in a team environment
- Version control (e.g., CVS, SubVersion)
- IDE (e.g., Eclipse, JBuilder)
- Strong fundamentals and experience in core Computer Science
- Particularly algorithms, data structures; information retrieval a plus
- Familiarity with Linux, Unix, DOS, scripting
- Excellent problem-solving skills, especially the ability to reason through technical problems and provide alternatives with pros and cons
- Team player with ability to contribute and mentor
- Independently-motivated, with proven track record of taking on and finishing projects without supervision
- Fast learner, knowledge of new technologies a plus
Experience:
5-10 years developing software, 2+ years in leadership position
Educational Qualification:
Bachelor´s in Computer Science or equivalent work experience, Master´s a plus
